He finished studying acting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in 1965 and accepted an engagement at the Mrštík Brothers’ Theatre (today’s Brno City Theatre) where he has been engaged as an actor ever since.
He has been the Art Manager of the Brno City Theatre ensemble since 1995; in the years 1998 – 2004, he was engaged in the function of deputy Art Manager of Brno City Theatre.
At the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, he was engaged as an instructor in the subjects Stage Speech Technique, Artistic Delivery and Theory of Rhyme and Its Interpretation over the years 1978- 2008. In 1990, he was named a senior lecturer. As far as his activities outside the theatre are concerned, he took the most interest in forms of theatre poetry and delivery. As an author and speaker, he presented sequences from the poetry of old China, as well as by S. Yesenin and M. Válek. In 1994, he obtained the Spectator’s award for the script to “Aren’t you Neruda?” for the Small Stage at the Mahen Theatre. With the students of acting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, he produced several tens of programmes featuring Czech and international poetry. He obtained the Crystal Rose of Poděbrady for his life-long reciting activities in 2001.
