He studied stage design in Prague under the tutorship of professor František Tröstr and graduated in Bratislava, his tutors being Ladislav Vychodil and Ludmila Purkyňová. During ten years, he worked in the theatre in Zlín; he was a regular guest artist in Brno, Prague and Bratislava. He focuses mainly on music genre (opera, ballet, musical), he designs costumes for films and television. He works together with drama directors (Alois Hajda, Svatopluk Skopal, František Laurin and Václav Hudeček) and opera directors (Ladislav Štros, Václav Věžník etc.). In 1983, he became the designer of the National Theatre of Prague. He teaches at the Music Academy of Performing Arts; often he is a guest abroad. He has created more than 450 settings. In 1983, he was awarded the Gold Medal in Quadrienalle of Prague. In the Brno City Theatre, he took part in the staging of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Bastard.
