Musical
When prestigious American dramatic and mainly music Tony awards were presented on Broadway on the second of June 2002, the most of them were awarded to the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. Its witty libretto and impressive swing music helped to achieve incredible six awards of eleven nominations and Broadway could boast of a new modern musical phenomenon. The adventurous story describes a career and love of lovely girl Millie who finds herself in New York without money. Although she is possessed about the idea of marrying a rich man, she can finally overcome not only the New York City’s underworld but also herself and choose a right partner. After many dramatic and funny peripeteias the “New York love story” results in a surprising denouement. This musical treasure was translated by Adam Novák for the Theatre Na Fidlovačce and its Czech premiere directed by artistic leader Juraj Deák will take place on 1st June 2006. Thus, Brno spectators who will come to see the music festival will be among the first theatre-goers who will have the chance to appraise the performance!
